Audio Engineer – United States Coast Guard Band:

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The USCG Band is looking for a Second Engineer to:
• Set up and provide Sound Reinforcement for the Concert Band, Vocalist, and Jazz groups.
• Record the CG Chamber Players Recital Series.
• Assist on Recording Sessions.
• Perform basic maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Perform audio related administrative tasks.

RESUME PACKET:
• Cover Letter.
• Resume containing:
• Experience in sound reinforcement and recording.
• Any training in music theory or as a musician.
• Education.
• 3 Personal References.
• Optional: Demo CD of your work recording various styles of music, preferably Orchestra / Concert Band, Chamber Music, Vocal / Choral, and Jazz or Rock.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Candidates will be selected for an interview after reviewing their Resume Packet.

INTERVIEW:
1. Demonstration of the following in a written exam.
• Sound Reinforcement microphone techniques for Concert Band, Jazz Big Band & Jazz Combo groups.
• Classical and Studio microphone recording techniques.
• Basic knowledge of electronics, math & physics related to audio.
2. Personal Interview.

The United States Coast Guard Band, one of our nation's five premier military bands, is located in New London, Connecticut. All persons entering the Coast Guard Band are enlisted at the pay grade of E-6, as Musician (Petty Officer) First Class. Starting salary is between $37,128 and $41,760, with full military benefits, 30 days annual vacation and pension plan. Musicians are not required to undergo the 11-week basic training program; however, they must attend several training classes at the Coast Guard Academy. Initial enlistment is for four years. Maximum age at time of enlistment is 34. Entrance into the Coast Guard Band requires meeting not only the necessary musical standards but also all standards required for entrance into the Coast Guard. Detailed information concerning eligibility may be obtained from your nearest Coast Guard recruiter.
